Recently Gaston County’s School Board decided to move all graduations in Gaston County indoors. The seniors of South Point High School feel as if having graduations indoors presents many problems for ourselves and families and would prefer graduation to be held outdoors. Many of us come from large or blended families who have supported us throughout our educational journey and want to see us graduate. If graduation is held indoors we will be limited to only three guests and many of our family members will not be able to attend graduation. In addition, South Point’s auditorium is antiquated and would not be an appropriate setting for graduation. Finally, we have been looking forward to graduating on the same field where we have had our best high school memories and where relatives graduated before us. Holding graduation indoors does not capture the magic of graduation. Please help the South Point Seniors by signing this petition to keep graduation outside.
