Animals have rights too. One of which should include the right to protect his/her owner from what they may perceive as threat. Whether it be a breaking and entering, an attack on the person, or a police officer handling someone before allowing them to handle their pet. Pets should not be put down for protecting the ones they love when threatened. Self defense should be included when talking about animal abuse. Putting an animal down for protecting themselves or their family is wrong!
