Implement Anti-Discrimination Training Upon Members Of An Garda Siochana

The Issue

Discrimination from An Garda Síochana towards non-ruling groups in Ireland has reached unbearable levels.

Almost one in 25 people between 18-24*, nearly 7% of unemployed people* and  7 in 10 members of the Traveling Community** have experienced it in their lifetimes.

Over one in ten of the people who reported discrimination in contact with An Garda Síochána gave Race/Skin Colour/Ethnic Group/nationality as the ground for discrimination*

Personal accounts report a wide variety of attacks from verbal slurs to police brutality, especially amongst first or second generation immigrants.

This abusive behaviour by our police is completely unacceptable in our modern society and does not stand for what we stand for as people.

My Objective:

My overall goal is to, firstly, inform people of their rights as citizens to report any wrongdoing from An Garda and, secondly, to lobby the Commisioners of the Gardaí Síochana Ombudsman Commision to implement this Anti-Discrimination Training upon An Garda nationwide.

I am planning to firstly gain 10,000 signatures on this petition to show the mass support for this movement.

I will then contact as many newspapers and media outlets as I can in hopes to further spread awareness of both the message of the petition and the positive change it can bring to our citizens.
