If you're one of the many people who like fan games, the game industry constantly infuriates you. Because every time a new fan game gets announced, the company who made the franchise steps in and shuts the development down entirely.

They always claim copyright infringement, but is it really what they claim?

Fan games are the #1 target of game companies (perhaps even movie companies). However, this throws up a red flag in concern of fairness. If you haven't noticed, they're have never been cease & desists for other media including videos, art and writing. What makes these forms of media so special? This question challenges the fact that companies order people to do such nonsense as shutting down fan games.

Apparently, from my perspective, they are just being bullies who are driven by greed. Fan games are never released with a price tag and yet the industry does everything in there power to stop them. Why would they bother shutting something down that is not out to make money? If these companies fail at making good games then it's their fault. But, the one thing they should never do is cut out fan made entertainment.

Who knows? Maybe these games are there so people have something to play while they wait for a new one. Whatever the reason, I for one believe that everyone should put their foot down and let the industry know that what they're doing is pointless and oppressive.

I am definitely not going to sit around and not have fun, as well as watch these independent developer be pushed around like dirt. If you agree with anything I have said, sign the petition and tell the game industry enough is enough.
