A huge THANK YOU to all of you who signed our petition requesting that Galway Council Council add 'The Quiet Man' cottage to the Record of Protected Structures (RPS).
As you may already be aware, the elected members of the Council voted 'yes' to initiate the process for addition of this iconic part of Ireland's cinema history to the RPS. As a result of that vote the cottage ruin has been under state protection since April 23rd – making it a crime to take stones or deface/damage the site in any way.
The Council's second vote for full addition to the RPS takes place on Monday 20th July.
Galway County Council has now given Sean and Mary Kate's 'wee humble cottage' a fighting chance – and each and every one of your signatures has played a vital role in moving things forward. Homeric!!!
