Please restore 'The Quiet Man' cottage in honour of Maureen O'Hara
Why this petition matters

On Monday 20th July, 2015 the elected members of Galway County Council voted 'YES' and added the ruin of 'The Quiet Man' cottage fully to the official Record of Protected Structures (RPS).
As a result of that, unanimous, vote this iconic part of Ireland's cinema heritage is now under full state protection.
Early the previous year (and upon signing our previous petition) Maureen O'Hara herself said...
"If you think about Duke, John Ford and all the people who worked on the picture it is sad to see it in a shambles. How can anyone say anything but wonderful things about it? - and see to it that it is fixed up for them and in their memory and for Ireland?”
Maureen did live to see the cottage put under state protection (and was delighted with the news) but, sadly, she did not live to see one of her dearest wishes realized - seeing her 'wee humble cottage' and movie home with John Wayne restored to its former beauty.
We have now lost our beloved Maureen and we believe that this iconic cottage should now, as a matter of urgency, be FULLY RESTORED to its 1952 movie glory – both as a timeless tribute to the cast and crew of this classic movie and as Ireland’s own salute to its uncrowned ‘Queen’ – the late Maureen O’Hara herself.
