Social Housing in Blackberry Hill, Fishponds

Social Housing in Blackberry Hill, Fishponds
The Issue
We need social housing in Bristol.
Galliford Try and the Homes & Communities Agency are planning to redevelop the Blackberry Hill Hospital site in Fishponds. They will be building 305 homes. It is vital that this development benefits everyone in Bristol and not just the wealthy. To do this it must have 40% social housing (122 homes).
If we allow developments of this size to be built with little or no social housing then we are simply pricing local people out of the area.
This land is publicly owned and so Bristol City Council have a duty to make sure that the needs of local people are recognised in this development.
A document that Bristol Council released, shows that if Galliford Try built 30% social housing in this development they would make £12 million in profit. But despite revenues of £1.3 billion in the last six months, the company claim that this would not be "viable" as a development and are trying to force the council into accepting a proposal with 0% social housing.
We won't let this happen.
Sign the petition today to demand that the Blackberry Hill development is for everyone in Bristol and has 122 homes as social housing.
