Fix the Lag-Bots killing Team Fortress 2

The Issue

Team Fortress 2 is a first-person shooter game developed by the Valve Corporation. The game was released back in 2007 and was instantly a hit. The Team Fortress 2 community has thrived even until today, in 2020, 13 years later. All players understand that the game is old, the coding is clunky and annoying, and people generally dislike working on the game's development. This doesn't excuse Valve for not keeping players updating on the ongoing crisis that will inevitably lead to a large portion of the player base leaving. By no means is the player base of this game small, checking now there are currently ~68,851 players.

The crisis that I mentioned is that of the lag-bots. These bots will enter a server and spam it with useless data-packets, causing the server to slow to a speed that is unplayable for all players. The spam also causes some players to disconnect, and can even lead to the server crashing. The only current solutions are: Not playing casual, kicking the bots quickly (otherwise you won't be able to kick them as it's too laggy), or leaving the game.

A user by the name of HEHEXDLOLS said on the Team Fortress 2 subreddit: "I hope that the bots could crash the servers for good so valve FINALLY decides to DO something about it, the truth is nothing will probably happen without valve seeing their player base go really really low."

Another user by the name of aralenormaki simply said: "it's fucking depressing"

I'm making this because I don't know what's going on. Valve may be trying their hardest, but they haven't told the community anything, and that makes us lose hope. All we ask is for a newsletter on TF2, an announcement, or for god-sakes even A TWEET. Just let us know we haven't been abandoned.

Thank you.
