The issue

Stop the Speedway on Fyfe Road: Protect Our Families, Not Just Our Pedestrians.

It’s not a matter of if someone will be killed on Fyfe Road. It’s a matter of when.

We, the residents and road users of Kellyville Ridge, are living next to a disaster waiting to happen. The stretch of Fyfe Road between Carindale Street and Silverwood Street has become a designated race track for reckless drivers, and our community is paying the price with their safety.

The danger isn't theoretical. It's happening on our doorsteps.

A Silent Threat: A pedestrian was nearly struck by a speeding Tesla. Due to the vehicle's near-silent operation, there was no warning—no engine noise to alert them to the danger barrelling towards them. They stepped onto the road believing it was clear, and they were almost killed by technology they couldn't hear.
Targeting Cyclists: Two cyclists, carefully navigating an intersection, were almost mowed down by a speeding red P-plate Lexus SUV. These aren't "accidents"; they are the predictable outcome of a road designed like a highway in the middle of a family neighbourhood.
Disruptive & Deadly Behaviour: P-plate drivers are using our street as a drag strip and a gathering place, disturbing the peace and endangering lives with their speed. The consequences have already turned fatal for beloved family pets who never stood a chance against a speeding car.
This is the daily reality on Fyfe Road.

This road isn't just a thoroughfare; it's a community hub. It is used every single day by families, elderly residents, schoolchildren walking to school, and cyclists. Yet, the current infrastructure does nothing to slow drivers down. The lack of speed humps and traffic islands sends a clear message to speeders: "Go ahead. No one will stop you."

We are calling on Blacktown City Council to act before we are mourning a neighbour, a child, or a parent.

Installing traffic-calming measures like speed bumps isn't just an "improvement"—it is a vital, life-saving necessity. We need the council to redesign the road to force drivers to obey the speed limit, protecting our community from those who refuse to do so voluntarily.

We cannot wait for a tragedy to force action. We cannot wait to see a child's bicycle or a pedestrian's silhouette on a council report as a statistic. The time to act is now, while our neighbours are still alive to benefit from it.

Sign this petition today. Tell Blacktown City Council to prioritise the lives of the Kellyville Ridge community over the convenience of a few speeding drivers. Let’s make Fyfe Road safe for everyone.
