FurtheBetter: Advocating for Stricter Laws to Protect Animals from Abuse

The Issue

In 2014, a major step was taken in recognizing animal welfare as a global issue. For the first time, an international court declared that protecting animals is a shared responsibility. Today, animal welfare is seen as a critical issue that needs immediate attention.

ANIMAL PROTECTION AS A GLOBAL PRIORITY Animal protection means caring for the well-being of animals and saving endangered species. Both are connected by the belief that animals, like humans, deserve to live without fear and pain. Around the world, laws are starting to reflect this belief, helping to create a kinder world for animals.

Animal abuse is a sad reality, where innocent animals suffer because of human actions. Every year, countless animals face cruelty, neglect, and violence. In the U.S. alone, almost 1 million animals are abused or killed in domestic violence. These are not just numbers they are living beings in pain, who deserve protection.

There is an urgent need for stronger laws to stop animal abuse and keep animals safe. Current laws don't do enough to protect animals or punish abusers. Stricter laws would punish animal abusers with higher fines and longer jail sentences, showing that cruelty to animals is not acceptable. Stronger laws are necessary to ensure animals are treated with respect and those who hurt them are held accountable.
