Fur Free Edmonton: Complete Fur Ban in Edmonton, Alberta

Fur Free Edmonton: Complete Fur Ban in Edmonton, Alberta
The Issue
Animals are suffering so we can wear their skin – a brutal reality that must change. We, the Edmonton Vegan Activists, believe every creature deserves to live a cruelty-free life without fear of being exploited for their fur. Despite societal advancement and alternatives available, we still have businesses in the heart of Edmonton that profit from the sale of real fur, a clear sign of indifference to animal wellbeing.
The Fur Industry, infamous for its inhumane practices, continues to torture animals for the sake of profit. As conscious Edmontonian and compassionate global citizens, we cannot permit this in our city. We have one prominent fur store in Edmonton, along with others selling animal skin and fur products. It is high time that these businesses reconsider their ethical stance and transition to selling faux fur.
It's not just about animals; the Fur Industry's environmental impact is significant. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), fur processing involves harmful chemicals, like chromium salts, which can contaminate water bodies while the release of greenhouse gasses from fur farms exacerbates global warming.
We are in the year 2024, we have the ability to make garments that do not bleed guilt and cruelty; faux fur is a harmless, sustainable alternative that serves style without compromising any life. Let's make Edmonton a beacon for empathetic fashion and eco-friendly advancements.
Please sign this petition to urge local businesses and the city administration to implement a complete fur ban in Edmonton. Your signatures matter – together, we can shape a compassionate and cruelty-free future for all inhabitants of our city.
