Cultural Assessment for the Municipal Government of Fuquay-Varina, NC

Cultural Assessment for the Municipal Government of Fuquay-Varina, NC

Our broad purpose is to create an organizational structure and develop a network of individuals that will advocate for opportunities to empower Black Americans socially, politically, and economically in Fuquay-Varina while establishing and maintaining a community of strategic impact.
Our desire, in the community, is to bring attention, focus, and implemented resolutions to the following issues, via the Town Manager, Mayor, and Board of Commissioners. We are not only identifying issues, but we are also advocating for specific, and possible resolutions.
Our Ask:
We ask that an independent professional entity conduct an assessment of the entire town to identify where cultural awareness deficits and/or biases exist. Commitment to an assessment will convey to citizens that the Municipal Government has an interest in transparency beyond verbal expression. We ask that all findings be released to the public. Furthermore, we support the hiring of a Diversity Equity and Inclusion professional by the Municipal Government. However, we ask that the commitment to a cultural assessment not be deferred until after this hire is made.
