The Issue

The Oatmeal is a comic site, it is owned and hosted by Matthew Inman, who is a web designer, graphic artist and general web comedian. His site, TheOatmeal.com, contains all of his work, including comics, quizzes, stories, and other hilarious things, appreciated by many.

A while back, The Oatmeal made a blog post pertaining to the posting of his copyrighted content on FunnyJunk, and as time went on the administrator of FunnyJunk removed all content containing the words "The Oatmeal", but a lot of the content had not said anything about The Oatmeal or Matthew.

June 2nd, a letter was sent to Matthew Inman from FunnyJunk's lawyer, informing him of FunnyJunk's request of all statements about the FunnyJunk be removed from The Oatmeal's site and The Oatmeal pay $20,000 in damages or have a federal lawsuit filed against the site. This is really not fair to The Oatmeal which posts its own content, the lawsuit and damages requests need to be stopped.
