Fans of the original 1982 fantasy film cult classic The Dark Crystal went almost 35 years without merchandise or collectibles to celebrate their love of the world created by Jim Henson and Brian Froud. 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the film, which has now spawned manga, comic books, YA novels, games, and an amazing series on Netflix.

While Funko did release one series of Pop!s and Reaction figures from the film, and one series of Pop!s and action figures from the series, there are so many characters and scenes that have not been realized in Funko fashion. There are so many characters and variants that could still be done.

There still isn't a huge selection of affordable collectibles available to fans, and Funko could very easily step in and change that. With the anniversary of the original film coming up, and with the first season still very popular on Netflix, it makes sense to strike while the iron is hot. And if this in anyway helps to ensure a second season and the continuation of our beloved franchise, then there's all the more impetus for fans to get involved.
