Shaman King Anime Restoration

Shaman King Anime Restoration

The Issue

Shaman King is a Japanese manga series create by Hiroyuki Takei. Shaman King was originally serialized by Weekly Shōnen Jump between 1998 and 2004. In 2003, Viz Media obtained an English-language license to publish English-translated manga and produced an anime series that eventually premiered on FoxBox on September 6, 2003. The series' final episode concluded September 3, 2005.

The stories tell of a young transfer student named Yoh Asakura, whom had the special ability to speak to spirits. Ultimately, Yoh seeks to become Shaman King to obtain a great power to reshape the world. In order to accomplish this goal, a tournament is held every 500 years where different clans, groups, and individuals hone their shamanic skills. Yoh eventually joins forces with a unique & diverse group of individuals with their own agendas, goals, and aspirations. Each character is unique as well as their relationship(s) with each other. Returning to this story with new stimulating audio and visuals, the audience will discover teachable moments, hard truths, and the un-encumbering idea of family and practices.

The goal of this petition is to revamp this beautiful, exciting adventure much like Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) and Brotherhood (FMA-B) series by Hiromu Arakawa. Similarly to the original Full Metal Alchemist series, Shaman King's animated series strayed from the original manga telling. The world as we know it, has evolved, new cultures and ideas have emerged, and speaking from an Americanized point of view, children, young adults, and perhaps some adults can find solace with understanding that unity is not agreement upon every circumstance. The world is as diverse as people's opinions; we as humans unite through action, morales, religion, and practices - Unity is the coexistence with opposition.

Currently, there are no North American publishing licenses associated with Shaman King neither (manga nor television series) Shueisha and Madmen Entertainment own publishing rights the Shaman King series for Japan and Australia regions. Viz Media and Konami Cross Media Group's publishing rights have expired, thus makes this objective challenging to to bring into fruition. Perhaps, with the assistance of Madmen Entertainment, it is possible to resurrect the series or with the help of another third-party?

Ufotable would be ideal, for reproducing the series new adaptation. Ufotable produced 2019's multi-award winning anime of the year Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotōge. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's visuals are nothing less than phenomenal and if applied to a Shaman King restoration, the series would have a stunning growth margin.

Personal Note: As a fan of the series, I hope that the English Opening Adaptation audio remains the same (at least until the end of the first season) I look forward to see this manifest and perhaps be a part of the design and production as a graphic designer! :)
