Fund the restoration of Newark Paramount Theater
Fund the restoration of Newark Paramount Theater
The Issue
When I think back to my childhood in Newark, I remember the magic of seeing the Paramount Theater, yet never getting to experience it. It was more than just a place to watch films; it was a community landmark where friendships blossomed and families gathered to make cherished memories. Today, as a dedicated parent, I hope for my children to experience this same joy and sense of community.
The Newark Paramount Theater, an architectural gem and historical landmark, now stands in need of our love and attention. Its once-glorious façade is fading, and its halls stand silent. Yet, this majestic building holds the potential to be reborn as a vibrant cultural hub—one that could offer safety, entertainment, and a sense of togetherness for all residents of Newark.
Despite Newark's thriving cultural scene, there are limited safe spaces where families can bond over a shared experience like a movie night. Restoring the Paramount Theater would fill this gap, fostering community spirit and offering a much-needed venue for arts and entertainment.
I've been working tirelessly to bring this vision to life. I started a GoFundMe campaign and have reached out to the Mayor of Newark, yet much more needs to be done. The Paramount Theater's revival is not just about preserving history; it's about investing in our community's future.
To make this dream a reality, we must secure funding for the theater's restoration project. According to estimates by heritage conservation experts, the refurbishment would require approximately $5 million—funds that could be gathered through municipal support, grants, and public donations.
This is an appeal to the City Council and local government: Help us restore Newark's Paramount Theater and transform it into a thriving cultural destination. Partner with us to provide our children with an inclusive space where they can feel safe and inspired.
Your support can make a significant difference. Please sign this petition and lend your voice to bring back the heart of our community, the Newark Paramount Theater.
