Friends, the Irvine City Council has seen your petition, read your emails, and heard comments from parents who attended the last City Council meeting. The council is bringing an item to discuss "safe and sustainable transportation options to University High School" during the Tuesday, August 8, City Council Meeting. Thank you for helping to make that happen!
Unfortunately, they are proposing to use funds that are already set aside for educational purposes (from the $2.5M Educational Partnership Fund Grant that the city gives to IUSD). For many reasons, we do not want the bus to be subsidized at the expense of education. Please join us on Tuesday, August 8, to asking the council to change their proposed source of funding to use some of the many millions of other discretionary funds available to City.
RSVP to join us at the City Council Meeting (Zoom option available for those who cannot be with us in person): http://evite.me/BtmV2K88g2
Please join other parents to directly tell City Council to 1) vote YES on the bus to Uni and 2) to amend their proposal so that the money does NOT come out of the Educational Partnership Fund Grant. Parents were extremely effective at the last meeting -- the city council heard you and are ready to take action. Please RSVP for updates and details.
