Thank you to everyone who signed and shared this petition. Your support gave me the credibility to meet with politicians, approach journalists, and advocate for Medicare IVF mental health reform.
What’s happened:
• Met with local MP Trish Cook who agreed to forward concerns to Minister Butler’s office
• Reached out to multiple politicians and journalists
• A September 2025 government Rapid Review of ART Regulation acknowledged patients feel poorly supported, but failed to include mental health support in reform recommendations
The reality:
Despite months of comprehensive advocacy, this campaign hasn’t gained the political or media traction needed for immediate policy change. I’m now stepping back to focus on my clinical work and research.
If you want to continue:
The issue remains real - government funds IVF psychological support that patients can’t access.
If you want to pursue this:
• Contact your local MP about Medicare mental health gaps in IVF care
• Watch for consultation periods when the ART accreditation reforms are implemented (targeted January 2027)
• Reference the Rapid Review’s finding that the sector needs to improve patient relationships
Policy change often takes years. Your signatures created important documentation of community concern that may matter when future policy windows open.
Thank you for caring about this issue.
