The Issue

I am writing this petition with a sense of urgency and personal concern. As a resident of Paterson, NJ, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by those who visit Barbour Park, especially individuals who are physically challenged. Imagine visiting a park and realizing that the only available bathroom option is a Johnny On The Spot portable toilet. It is disheartening that, despite millions of dollars being invested in our parks, we are still resorting to temporary solutions such as these portable restrooms.

It is absolutely imperative that we provide a real, functional bathroom in Barbour Park. This is more than just a convenience; it is a matter of dignity and accessibility for all visitors, especially those with physical disabilities who find it difficult, if not impossible, to use non-permanent facilities. How can we position Paterson as a first-rate city to the state and country if our public amenities do not reflect a commitment to modernity and inclusivity?

I call upon the governing body of Paterson to re-evaluate their budget allocations and find the necessary funds to construct a permanent restroom in Barbour Park. A facility that not only meets the basic needs but also upholds the rights and dignity of every person visiting the park. Let's make this park a space where everyone can enjoy without such basic concerns.

Sign this petition to urge Paterson's leaders to prioritize the construction of a functional bathroom in Barbour Park and showcase our city's commitment to progress and inclusivity.
