The Issue
Passenger Rail plays a crucial role in our nation's transportation network, providing a reliable and eco-friendly alternative to car and air travel, Despite the benefits there are currently proposals at federal and state levels to decrease funding for rail and public transportation which could have severe implications for American citizens dependent on this mode of transportation.
In 2024, Amtrak transported 32.8 million riders the most in its more than 53-year history and ridership continues to grow post pandemic. Cutting funds could result in loss of jobs, decreased accessibility for those without other means of transportation, higher travel costs, and increased carbon emissions. Moreover, transportation is a significant contributor to America's GDP, with rail transportation making a substantial part.
We are the largest economy in the world, there is no reason why we cannot invest in this essential mode of transportation. Think about Japan, France, and other European Countries they all have thriving passenger rail systems Its time for us to catch up.
Public Transportation and Passenger rail has many benefits to both our economy and our National Identity.

5. Provides Alternative transportation to people who are unable to drive or fly such as seniors and handicapped people

We Americans urge the President, the Senate Transportation Committee, Congress at large and the states to consider the impacts and benefits when making decisions about rail funding and reconsider defunding Amtrak and other Transit systems. Bring us together in this issue not as political parties but as Americans.
