We need all hands on deck tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/18/15 in Nashville on Capitol Hill to show them that we DEMAND Full Practice Authority for APRNs in TN!
I spoke with Senator Briggs (who is a MD) staff member, Sarah, who told me that Dr. Briggs was NOT for FPA and she was NOT aware that TN APRNs could own their own clinic's in TN and told me she felt all people should be treated by MDs and that APRNs should not be able to treat patients without a MD in the clinic.
I spent my day off yesterday making appointments with the following TN Senators & Representatives so we can educate them about APRNs and how Full Practice Authority will help our patients who are their constituents.
Rep Harrison: 9:00am
Rep Goins: 9:30am
Rep Faison: 10:00am
Rep Clemmons: 10:30am
Sen Overby: 2:15pm
Rep Hill: 3:00pm
Sen Yarbro: 4:00pm
These are the Senators and Representatives who have healthcare background and who are on the committee that will decide if our FPA bill will go any further.
Senator Bo Watson: Physical Therapist
Senator Joey Hensley: MD
Senator Richard Briggs: MD
Senator Randy McNally: Pharmacist
Rep JoAnn Favors: RN
Rep Sabi Kumar: MD
Rep Harrison: Healthcare Admin
Rep Judd Matheny: MD
Rep Bob Ramsey: Dentist
I thank ALL 2673 people who have signed this petition so far! Please continue to share with everyone you know! I have heard from many who plan on attending tomorrow which is AWESOME and one thing I have learned in life is that if you want something done then you can only count on one person and that is yourself! I know it is a sacrifice to be there tomorrow as I am making many myself because I believe that all APRNs in all 50 states and all of their patients deserve FPA.
I want to clarify that I appreciate what TNA has done in their many endeavors for nurses in TN and I am not against physicians. In fact, I collaborate and refer my patients to physicians every day to help take care of my patients. But enough is enough of APRNs NOT being able to practice to the full extent of our education which is affecting our patient's every single day across our country!
Within 10 years, there will be a shortage of 90,000 Physicians....APRNs are willing to step up but we are held back by the restrictions placed on us and it is time for those restrictions to be removed!
So are you coming tomorrow? If so, meet us in the cafeteria at Capitol Hill at 8:30am at 301 6th Ave North, Nashville, TN.
