Dear Friends of Ascente',  I just want to once again thank you for supporting growth and opportunity in your back yard and hope everyone had a safe 4th of July week with family and friends. We have received news that we are set to go in front of our County Commissioners on Tuesday, August 8th (time to be announced) for the final vote to get the Ascenté project approved. I have heard through several channels that the frustration from our opposition isn't just from this project, but other neighboring projects and emails are flooding our elected officials with negative comments. I ask that over the next 3 weeks we focus on letting our elected officials know that there is another side who supports this growth and we support their decision to vote YES to responsible housing projects.  Please email our Washoe County Commissioners with, “I SUPPORT THE ASCENTÉ PROJECT ON AUGUST 8TH!” in the subject line and let them know, in just a few sentences, why you support growth in Northern Nevada. The world is changing and hopefully in a brighter and healthier direction.          We need more smart growth in Reno!          Support          The majority should rule not the little whiny people!!          To bring more construction jobs to Reno          Smart growth is essential!          Smart Growth is what we need for our community.          I want to see the Truckee Meadows grow. Intelligently.          We need more housing for all the growth of business swarming to northern Nevada. We also need more roads and schools to support all future projects!          I'm singing because I support the development of new homes. I believe we are in need of affordable middle-class housing.          YIMBY has a valid platform and I agree with its mission.          Reno and the surrounding areas are in need of a project that will aide in the smart growth of our community!          While this is not necessarily 'workforce' housing, it will allow move up potential housing options which then will allow rollover of affordable units for other folks. From what I have seen it is a well-designed project. Please support it.          We need more housing to accommodate the rapid growth our Region is facing.          I support smart development of our area. By doing so it will help level out the rising cost of living which has been driven up due to a lack of housing for the growing need in our area.          Our growth is accelerating in N. Nevada while housing shortages are hurting affordability. I support planned growth that helps families in our community          I believe in positive growth in Reno. Especially in companies that are so willing to work with the surrounding neighbors to make the development a positive for all concerned.          I'm a millennial in need of a pool of quality, affordable housing where I can grow a future for myself, my family and my community.          "I'm 'bout that action, boss." - Marshawn Lynch          I am pro-growth and tired of everyone opposing every project in our area when we are in great need of more homes.          We are in a housing crisis and need more homes built          Smart community structure          Reno's rapid employment growth has created a need for housing. The quality of this type of development will help increase home values in the area.          We need housing in Reno in all price ranges,          Growth in metro Reno is inevitable, why fight it? Direct it!          Reno is a growing community and in order to support that growth we need to have common sense development. The Ascente project is on private property zoned residential and from the information I have seen, it has been designed in a thoughtful manner to preserve the open space and enhance the opportunities to utilize this open space. This is unlike the property's around Ascente that are typical lot and block subdivisions that do not provide access to open space. I realize that residents in the vicinity do not want anything to change including one additional car driving down the public streets in front of their homes but, nothing in the world guarantees that. There are standards that have been established which ensures a minimum level of service that must be maintained and if this development meets those standards which is appears to, it should be approved. Ascente will be in my view from my front yard and I have absolutely no issues with it. I know the people involved. They are a class act and will do right by the neighbors, the property, the city, the county, etc. This land is private property. They should be allowed to utilize that land according to its zoning. According to its zoning. Reno is growing and in need of housing.          We need more homes built in Reno. There is death of housing availability and the public agencies need to act fast to approve more housing.          At this point in time, we need housing more than ever. It is a vital part of the health of our economy and what will make our community more attractive to those businesses faced with an opportunity to make Nevada home.          Yes. We need more homes to support the growth and demographics coming to our area.          I support Smart Growth Thank you again and please continue to share this petition with "like minded friends" who understand that more housing at all levels is the solution.
