Street naming in Honor of John & Joe's Pizzeria in Memory of "JOE CHIODI"
The Issue
Our Community lost a wonderful Friend and Business owner on Sunday February 23, 2020. Joe Chiodi part owner of John and Joe's Pizzeria along with his Uncle John. passed away suddenly due to health complications. John & Joe's opened their doors in the Pelham Parkway Community on Lydig avenue in the early 80's. For over 30 years with their love for community and making pizza they became a neighborhood staple nestled on the corner of Lydig and Holland Avenues. The energetic atmosphere of making pizza good dinners friends and the best garlic knots in the Bronx was electric. There was something about this place not just the food but the men who owned it. John & Joe's through the years have employed many of the neighborhood teens and given life lessons and listened to all those who came in. The loss of Joe has rocked our community with in 1 hour of creating a facebook page in Joe's memory there were over 500 members and an out pouring of stories and photos of those who were touched by Joe and how he helped them get through Good and Bad times in their lives. We hope you will consider a street naming in his honor as well as the establishment he and his Uncle John have created.
