Friday Mornings Corporate/Social Bookings
Friday Mornings Corporate/Social Bookings
The issue
Demand for golf and available tee times has never been higher and this is reflected in increased Membership playing numbers and extensive waiting lists at both Eastlake and surrounding clubs.
Eastlake Club is currently allocating a total of 20 hours for Member competitions over the 5 day Monday to Friday week - represents 37% of total tee times in the Club booking system, while the remaining 63% of available tee times are available to the Public. ie the Public currently have approx. 2 tee times for every one member tee time for the 5 day week PRIOR TO any Corporate/Social Club bookings.
However, when the ideal playing conditions of Spring arrive, the Club is re-allocating Member tee times for the majority of Fridays over the October to December period to Corporates/Social players. This reduces the fee-paying Member allocation to 30% of available tee times in the numerous weeks when Friday mornings are out of play.
Eastlake Golf Club has a rather unique approach to Corporate/Social Golf Days that is not in operation in any other golf club. The Club advertises on its website - "Corporate events are offered as fixed 60 or 80 player shotguns only. Available Tuesday and Friday only for Shotgun Start between 8-8.30am."
There is a growing concern among fee-paying members regarding the Club's policy of allocating prime tee times to non-fee paying Corporate/Social clubs. In the 6 week period from 9 October to 20 November, the, predominantly 5 day members who elect to play regularly on Friday mornings, have lost 5 Fridays to the Public playing groups and the Club newsletter states there are more to come. This is the second year in a row where the allocated Member tee times on a Friday morning have been on-sold again to Corporate/Social Clubs.
Corporate/Social club players are the Public, so WHY aren't these groups directed to the afternoon Public time slots on any of the week days ? Afternoon tee times are also consistent with all of the Corporate day offerings of other Clubs in the surrounding area. With the loss of Friday morning tee times the fee paying Member portion of playing times drops to 30%. We believe this threatens the core values of fairness and equity that Eastlake Club stands for.
Please sign this Petition to urge the Club Board of Directors to reconsider their current policy and prioritize the interests of fee-paying members during prime time tee times. Together we can restore fairness and uphold the values that make our Club an inclusive and thriving community.
