On behalf of Fresno Pacific University's class of 2021 anticipated graduates, I write this petition in hopes that we will be given a traditional graduation ceremony which we have tirelessly worked toward. It is a celebration whereby the university honors its graduating students. In addition, the students are given the opportunity to honor the university and our dedicated professors for their faithful investment of time and energy poured into our education. Many schools in California have returned to in-person classes, the covid-19 vaccination has become widely available to those who wish to receive it, and the social distancing guidelines have been relaxed.

Fresno Pacific University (FPU) is planning to honor its students through the premiering of a pre-recorded ceremony. Along with my classmates, I have invested my time, effort, and finances working towards this milestone. I am double majoring and will be a first-generation college graduate who has maintained a high GPA. This is only part of my story. There are so many other students with such inspiring stories regarding their hard work and dedication. Without due recognition, it seems as though our accomplishments are not being properly celebrated.

Rather than taking the simpler route when life presents hurdles, I believe we should push harder and give honor to whom honor is due. I hope Fresno Pacific University will consider this reasonable request and celebrate the accomplishments of their students by hosting an in-person graduation ceremony. "Possible Happens Here [Fresno Pacific University]." I look forward to celebrating the achievements of the graduating class of 2021 along with our FPU community!
