Dear Petition Supporters,
On 12/6/2016 Fremont City Council rezoned the parcel of the ‘Cornfields’ at Walnut / Guardino, requiring a minimum density of 50.1 units per acre and limiting maximum parking spaces to 1.75 per unit. 632 NEW luxury apartment units were approved.
The project will worsen the neighborhood parking already impacted by nearby BART, increase the overcrowding of schools, and there is no affordable housing incorporated directly into the project.
‘Stand Up 4 Fremont’, a coalition of Fremont citizens who are in favor of thoughtful development of our city and preservation of character of the surrounding neighborhoods, has initiated litigation against the City of Fremont to curb the density of the project. The litigation addresses the approval of the zoning change without proper environmental review, and also the lack of consideration for the concerns of residents of the surrounding neighborhoods.
The litigation is moving forward. A settlement conference has already been scheduled for February 27th with the City of Fremont at City Hall. Donations are urgently needed to continue the litigation. Please consider making a donation to ‘Stand Up 4 Fremont’ group NOW.
