Dear Supporter,

Firstly, thank you again for signing the petition calling for no further council tax rise in Clackmannanshire.

As promised, I wanted to provide an update.

An open letter was sent to Keith Brown MSP asking for his clear and full backing for a council tax freeze. At the time of writing, we are still waiting for a response.

With last year’s 13% council tax rise still fresh in people’s minds, many households are already feeling the pressure. Residents deserve clarity and leadership on where he stands.

I would respectfully urge everyone who signed the petition to contact Keith Brown directly and ask for his full support for a council tax freeze this year.

Please keep all communication polite and respectful — the goal is to ensure the voices of local residents are heard clearly and constructively.

Thank you again for standing up for Clackmannanshire. I will continue to keep you updated.

Together, we can make sure our community’s concerns are not ignored.

Open Letter reads as follows

Hi Keith,

We know it’s an election year and that you’ve been busy campaigning for the 52 bus and better banking services in Clackmannanshire — and we genuinely appreciate that work

However, we’re writing to ask you to give your full backing to our campaign for a council tax freeze in 2026.

You can view the petition here:
  https://c.org/MTSWcZzZZP

This request comes off the back of last year’s 13% council tax rise, in a year where some elected councillors saw 40%+ pay increases, and the Chief Executive received a £32,000 salary rise.

We’re sure you’ll agree — at a time when residents are struggling — that this creates very poor optics.

You were a strong supporter of the council tax freeze in 2019. We’re asking you to stand with residents once again and support a freeze in 2026, ahead of the budget meeting at Kilncraigs on 27th February. Your backing could genuinely send this petition into orbit

Your support would mean a great deal to people across Clackmannanshire and would send a clear message that local leadership is on the side of ordinary residents.

We hope you’ll stand with us.
