#FREEIRAN For the People's Republic of Iran
The Issue
You probably know by now that Iran is an islamic republic, but what does this mean for women? To what end does the Islamic Republic of Iran impose authoritarian, mysogynistic practices that make it okay to rape, beat, and even behead women who have done no wrong but to embrace their femininity?
On September 16, 2022, a twenty two year old woman named Mahsa collapsed. She fell into a coma from a severe beating that carried out by the morality police, a group of zealot Iranians that have the right to use whatever means necessary to impose 'the law of Islam'. Now, you might think morals are good, and most of the time they aren't bad. If I saw a naked man walking down the street with his dick and balls hanging out, I too might wish for a morality police to hand him some clothes. But even on this naked man, I wouldn't wish a beating, a severed head, or castration.
So, what did Mahsa do? What about Neda, or Hadis, or Romina? They didn't rob, murder, or rape anyone, so what did they do?
They existed, but in a country that shows no mercy to girls, teenagers, and women. The women in Iran have been, for decades, murdered by their fathers, husbands, and the government. Above all, it is the Islamic Republic of Iran that grants permission to the slaughtering of an entire sex. A mysogenocide. Girls as young as 14 have been beheaded while sleeping. 22 year olds have slipped into comas, and 26 year olds shot in the face, laid out for the public to see.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has no place for the Iranian. It is time for a People's Republic of Iran. It is time to honor the women that have upheld the Persian identity for centuries before and centuries to come. It is time to recognize the great sacrifices that the we have made to stay Persian. There was a pre-Islamic Persia, perhaps it's time for a post-Islamic Iran. A People's Republic.
An Iran that saves the civilians, protects the people, and provides man and women with equal opportunity. In honor of the fallen soldiers, the women who gave their lives, and the women who will give their lives, for a better Iran, please sign this petition.
