Petition to free Lil Felix

As citizens, we are part of a society that is aware of the fact that it lives surrounded by nature that accompanies us daily and manifests itself through living beings that wander before us in complete freedom. That is why, through this petition, we demand the release of the elephant named Lil Felix, after the Maryland Zoo, where she currently lives, made the regrettable decision to put her only companion, named Anna, to sleep, plunging her into a suffering of sadness and loneliness.   

History

Lil Felix is ​​a female African bush elephant that was born in the wild in Zimbabwe in 1983, being part of a herd that, at that time, had not gained much importance until it was named the “Presidential Herd”.   A year later, in 1984, she was captured and forced to travel with 62 other orphaned elephants to Jumbolair, an airplane runway located in Occala, Florida.   

 After four years of uncertainty, they are sold to zoos and circuses, the latter being (Lil Felix) taken to Riddles Elephant & Wildlife Sanctuary, a pseudo-sanctuary located in Greenbrier, Arkansas, United States. She is then sold to perform at the Bentley Brothers Circus for 9 years until she returns to the Riddles Elephant & Wildlife Sanctuary in Arkansas, USA. It is there, where unfortunately, as part of the misnamed term of "conservation" she is forced to become pregnant twice, the second baby being named Samson, being the only one who survives the sun today and both have lived in Maryland Zoo since 2008. 

Reasons to demand her prompt release and transfer to a sanctuary

After the administration made the bad decision for this year 2024 to leave Lil Felix without her female companion, it is clear that it is time to act and demand a better life for this elephant, being transferred to a sanctuary where she can have more space to explore and more friends to fraternize.  We cannot allow the years to go by without taking action on her release, otherwise Lil Felix could become another victim of euthanasia, as Anna recently did. 

It is for this reason that I am putting this petition out there to get her out of this horrible world and get her the freedom she deserves.
