PROTECT CRYPTO ENTREPRENEURS FROM PERSECUTION

Chris Emms, a British citizen with no ties to the U.S., is one of the victims of the Biden Administration’s weaponization of the Department of Justice (DOJ) against crypto entrepreneurs. The U.S. is expanding its legal reach beyond its borders, targeting individuals and bullying their way to universal jurisdiction—even when, their target (as in Chris's case) has not violated UK or international law.

Chris was accused of violating U.S. sanctions simply for attending a blockchain conference in North Korea—an event that did not breach any UK or international laws. His real "crime"? Refusing to cooperate with U.S. authorities and refusing to provide false witness testimony against another DOJ target. Because of this, the U.S. pursued him aggressively and attempted to extradite him from Saudi Arabia. Fortunately, Chris won his extradition case, proving the baseless nature of the charges, but he remains in legal limbo, forced to live under asylum in Russia rather than return to his home town in Surrey, England.

Chris previously worked closely with Roger Ver, another major name in crypto who has also been targeted by authorities. This is part of a wider crackdown on crypto pioneers, where the DOJ is selectively prosecuting individuals to make examples of them (and with baseless cases, hoping they enter a plea deal)—even when they have no legal connection to the U.S.. Like Julian Assange, Chris cannot return to the UK because it would put him at risk of pre-trial detention and extradition, leaving him without a safe home.
