We recently received an important response from Connecticut Senate President Pro Tempore Martin M. Looney regarding the wrongful incarceration of Ismail Abdus-Sabur.

In his letter, Senator Looney thanked us for bringing this matter to his attention and confirmed that he will refer our communication to the Judiciary Committee. He also stated that he will look into revising legal standards for overturning convictions when exonerating evidence exists during the upcoming legislative session in February 2026.

This is a significant step forward — our voices are being heard at the highest legislative levels. But we cannot stop here. We must keep pushing, keep sharing, and keep demanding justice for Ismail.
