Free the St Kilda Community: End the Junkie and Prostitution Triangle in Greeve, Blanche,

The issue

Our community has sadly become a target for disgraceful behavior, with individuals who steal, vandalize, and create an atmosphere of fear in our neighborhood for years. Despite our joint efforts—through Neighbourhood Watch, installing more security cameras, and constant engagement with local authorities—these issues persist. Just last week, a package was brazenly stolen from a porch, and our street library was first vandalized and later stolen completely (it was a sturdy cabinet bolted to the wall).

It’s deeply unsettling to walk around and witness prostitution taking place in broad daylight. We have photographic evidence of an individual—likely a junkie or homeless—half-naked and engaging with a prostitute in public. This is just one of many incidents that occur both day and night, threatening the peace and safety of our community. Cars are being vandalized, and junkies openly inject themselves with syringes.

Families with young children are particularly impacted by these ongoing issues. It's heartbreaking to think that parents can't allow their kids to play outside or walk to school without worrying about encountering drug use, prostitution, or vandalism right in their neighborhood. Children are being exposed to unsafe, inappropriate, and unhealthy environments on a daily basis.

If nothing changes, our neighborhood will continue to deteriorate, and the safety and well-being of families will remain at risk. It will drive good people away and further embolden those responsible for these disgraceful acts. On the other hand, if we take immediate action, we can reclaim our streets, restore the sense of community we all value, and ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for everyone—especially our children.

The time for action is now. We must urge local authorities to prioritize this issue, increase law enforcement presence, enforce stricter penalties, and provide resources to clear our community of those who destroy it. This is a matter of urgency for the future of our neighborhood and the well-being of the families who call it home.

We demand action to protect our neighborhood. We call on the authorities to address this growing problem—remove these individuals from our streets, penalize them for their destructive behavior and illegal activities, and restore safety and dignity to our community.
