There are about xxx,xxx Largemouth Bass up to maybe 15 pounds or so in a 9,000 to 13,000 surface acre Rodman Reservoir. Now think about those same xxx,xxx Largemouth Bass up to maybe 15 pounds or so in 22 miles (mainstream channel plus side-creeks & tributaries = about 500 acres total) of a restored free-&-swift-flowing Ocklawaha River -- with a seasonal spawning run of Atlantic-race Striped Bass up to 30 pounds or so in this same river, ALSO!
And the Largemouth Bass would be protected by the adopted-in-2016 statewide Largemouth Bass fishing regulations that I helped write for the FWC (starting back in 2010). Only ONE Largemouth Bass at 16 inches or longer can be legally kept / taken by each angler per day.
BASS ANGLING (Largemouth & Striper) would be very exciting & productive in both Marion & Putnam counties for decades into the future!
Granted, some of those Largemouth Bass now in Rodman Reservoir would MIGRATE either: UPSTREAM on the middle Ocklawaha River to Silver River & the upper Ocklawaha River -- or -- DOWNSTREAM on the lower Ocklawaha River to the St. Johns River. And that doesn't bother me one bit!
My bass fishing in Florida began in 1965 -- Ocklawaha River RESTORATION is a NO-BRAINER for me!
