The Republic of Armenia has imprisoned the Mayor of Goris, Armenia, Mr. Arush Arushanyan.  Mr. Arush Arushanyan was re-elected as the mayor of Goris while sitting in a jail cell.

Mr. Arush Arushanyan is a veteran and has worked all of his life to protect the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia. 

The Republic of Armenia has accused him of nonviolent offenses. 

Pursuant to international legal norms the Armenian government cannot, and should not, keep Mr. Arushanyan in jail while he waits for his trial.

He is not a flight risk and the law assumes that he innocent until proven guilty.

The Armenian Ministry of Justice must move  to release Mr. Arush Arushanyan immediately.
