An Iranian couple received jail sentences totalling 10 years after posting a video of themselves dancing in the street. The video showed them dancing in Tehran's Azadi (Freedom) Tower.

Astiazh Haqiqi, 21, and her boyfriend, Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, 22,  are accused of "promoting corruption and prostitution, collusion against national security and propaganda against the system". The couple did not link their dance to the ongoing protests in Iran but the regime still considers the video a challenge to its strict rules. The two were deprived of their right to have a lawyer in court, and their request for bail was rejected.

This has to stop. Since the start of the protests in this country, four people have been hanged for alleged crimes during the demonstrations. If we don't do something, activists will continue to be hanged and imprisoned for defending their rights or simply for dancing as this couple has been.
