We, the undersigned, call on  the priminister to take immediate action to ensure the wellbeing, dignity, and equality of all pupils in our education system.

1. Free School Meals for Every Child

No child should go hungry during the school day. We urge you to make school meals free for all children, from Flying Start through to Sixth Form, regardless of their parents’ income or employment status. This includes children whose parents are in paid work. Free school meals for all will:

* Reduce stigma and inequality.

* Improve concentration, learning outcomes, and health.

* Ensure that no family has to choose between heating and eating.

2. Respect for Basic Human Needs

We are deeply concerned by reports of children being denied access to the toilet during school hours. Preventing a child from using the toilet when needed is not only harmful to their health but also disrespectful to their dignity. We call for a clear, compassionate policy across all schools that guarantees pupils’ right to use the toilet whenever they need to, without fear of punishment or embarrassment.
