It is with great concern that I bring to your attention the actions of NHL referee Wes McCauley. We believe that his behavior on the ice has been consistently unprofessional and detrimental to the integrity of the game.

I am not just an angry Toronto Maple Leafs' fan. Over the years, McCauley has developed a reputation for being overly dramatic during games. He frequently draws attention to himself with excessive gesturing and shouting, often overshadowing the players and their performances.

Furthermore, McCauley's calls have been called into question numerous times by players, coaches, and fans alike. In fact, according to data compiled by The Athletic in 2019, he had one of the highest rates of overturned calls among all NHL referees.

This lack of consistency in his decision-making not only undermines his credibility as an official but also creates an unfair playing field for teams involved in these disputed calls.

We believe that it is time for Wes McCauley to be held accountable for his actions on the ice. His behavior not only detracts from the game but also sets a poor example for younger generations who look up to him as a role model.

Therefore, we call upon NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to take action against Wes McCauley and remove him from officiating duties until he can demonstrate more professionalism and consistency in his performance.
