Meet my friend Luis Miguel Salinas who has spent his entire youth behind bars for a crime he never committed. I urge you to read his story and spread the word. On January 29, 2005, Luis was wrongly arrested for attempted murder in the Westlake District of Los Angeles by corrupt Rampart division officers. Despite being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Luis was sentenced to 44 years to life in prison based solely on the testimony of Rampart officers and with no physical evidence. Luis pleaded his innocence and went to trial twice. However, he refused plea bargains and maintained his innocence. Recently, new evidence emerged when Hector confessed and other witnesses testified on Luis's behalf, including the victim in the case. Luis is innocent, and we have proof that can clear his name.
