As you will have seen in the news, there was a possible area for negotiation relating to someone being held in the UK who could be deported. This was raised by their captors back in December but our Foreign office have chosen not to discuss the matter with them. This is deeply frustrating for the family. 
Unfortunately, Lindsay and Craig’s hunger strike continues after repeated broken promises, including family contact being cut off. This protest only began after they felt they had no other way to make their voices heard, and they remain determined to keep up the pressure until their release is sensibly addressed.
As you are aware their appeal has now been rejected, and this has now been escalated to the supreme court but we have little faith in the opaque justice system.  Meanwhile they remain in prison, cut off from talking to the family while their health and wellbeing continue to cause serious worry and the foreign office still hasn’t seen them. We are still pushing for every possible route for them to be seen and to bring them home, including renewed pressure on government and diplomatic channels.
We are enormously grateful for massive support from MPs like Tony Vaughan, Alica Kearnes, Brendan O’Hara and Sir Iain Duncan Smith who are members of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Arbitrary Detention and Hostage Affairs. They wrote to the PM again last week to emphasise the importance of urgent foreign office action for Lindsay and Craig.
