This week the All Party Parliamentary Group on Arbitrary Detention and Hostage Affairs held a hearing in parliament into the treatment of Lindsay and Craig's case by the Foreign Office. Lindsay's eldest son Joe and their Human Rights barrister Haydee Dijkstal (pictured above) were joined by Rupert Skilbeck, Executive Director of Redress, to address a committee of MPs chaired by Baroness Helena Kennedy. They highlighted that more could and should be done by the UK government to secure Lindsay and Craig's release. Details will be included in a report to be released on 12th November. Below is a message from Joe.
"It’s hard to believe how long this fight has gone on. Every day still feels like a battle between hope and heartbreak, but what’s kept us going, more than anything, is the strength of this community.
Your signatures, your messages, your constant belief, they’ve carried us through some of the darkest moments. We’ve spoken directly to those in power, we’ve been heard in Parliament, and we’ve made sure Lindsay and Craig’s names haven’t been forgotten. Every single voice here has helped make that possible.
But the truth is, we’re still waiting. Waiting for action that matches the words. Waiting for decisions that bring them home. The process has been painfully slow, but we know that visibility and pressure matter, and that’s where you’ve all made the biggest difference.
This next phase is about keeping that light shining. About making sure this story continues to be seen and heard, until Lindsay and Craig are safely back where they belong.
So please, keep sharing. Keep talking. Keep believing that your voice counts, because it does. Together, we’ve already changed how people are paying attention. Now we need to turn that attention into action. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us. We won’t stop until they’re home.”
