Julian Assange's life, democracy and Australian Sovereignty will be destroyed if Julian Assange is extradited. As Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese prepares to head to the United States on October 23, to meet with President Biden, this petition’s demand to stop the extradition of Julian Assange and to free Julian Assange has never been more urgent.
By October 23, 2023, Australian publisher and journalist Julian Assange will have spent 4 years, 6 months, and 12 days or 1656 days in HMP Belmarsh maximum security prison. Assange’s family fears they will lose him forever if he is extradited to the US. Time is running out to secure Julian Assange’s freedom, as his health deteriorates and the UK High Court is imminently poised to decide whether to hear a last appeal by Mr Assange, a decision expected in October.
Momentum has been building around the world demanding an end to the persecution (1.) and arbitrary detention (2.) of Julian Assange.
The Prime Minister of Australia Mr Anthony Albanese signed this petition on 23-5-2022 and is Signatory No. 710,753 of what is now more than 780,000 signatures.
Around October 23, 2023 the Prime Minister of Australia Mr Anthony Albanese (Signatory 710,753) will be in a unique position to secure Mr Assange’s freedom and bring him home to Australia, as he meets with President Biden in Washington DC. Together with over 200,000 Citizen of the USA who are also Signatories to this petition, we have a valid and powerful platform for grievance resolution by way of petition.
Together with the pressure from the Australian Prime Minister, over 200,000 USA Citizens who are Signatories to this petition claim legitimate rights under the USA Constitution to petition the government of the USA. As enumerated in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which specifically prohibits Congress from abridging "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”. The Persecution of Julian Assange is a grievance that can only be resolved by the President of the USA stopping the extradition case against Julian Assange and immediately freeing Julian Assange.
“Enough is enough, I can’t see what is served by the continued incarceration of Julian Assange” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Signatory No. 710,753. On May 24, 2023 Australian Government cross party support to end the persecution of Julian Assange.
