About Jeffery A. Kemp**
**Location:** Markham, IL
**Age:48**
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, my name is Jeffery Kemp, and a lot of people in the community know me as Bodean. I have always deeply cherished my community and roots. Over the years, I have committed my time to enhancing the lives around me, whether it was providing free food and facing paintings for the kids in the community at my store, deescalating conflicts in the neighborhood, or just willing to lend a helping hand.
As a devoted family man and friend to many, I have always prioritized the well-being of others and strived to make my neighborhood and community a better place to live for everyone. Those who know me can attest to my character, generosity, and integrity. My current circumstances weigh heavily on my family, friends, and all who depend on my support and leadership.
As most of the community is aware, I have experienced a profound miscarriage of justice that altered the course of my life significantly. In 2015, I was wrongfully arrested and convicted based on the false testimony of four individuals from our neighborhood. These individuals were involved in a series of cellphone store robberies and, in attempt to mitigate their own legal repercussions, they falsely implicated myself as an accomplice in their crimes.
Despite my consistent declarations of innocence and lack of substantive evidence linking me to the robberies, I was convicted and sentenced to a substantial term of imprisonment. However, the truth surfaced when three out of the four accusers recanted their statements through affidavits, shortly after my trial. They confessed to lying about my involvement, admitting their testimonies were fabricated under pressure to reduce their own sentences. The fourth individual made a mockery out of himself when he gave his fabricated testimony -- by means of not being able to identify me in an open-court, while he was on the stand at trial.
Today I seek the goodwill and understanding of our community through this petition on Change.org. I believe in correcting injustices, and the strength of community support to help guide the court`s decision to release me. Through this petition, I am seeking an opportunity to be released, with the promise to continue contributing positively to our society..
**WHY SIGN THIS PETITION?**
By signing this petition, you are not just aiding one person, but reinforcing the belief in the justice system that justice can prevail whenever an injustice occurs.
So I am asking everybody that really knows my character to TURN-UP for this injustice by not only signing this petition but also by making a short video and texting the video to (708)582-2323, asking Judge Tanya Pratt to please give me the opportunity to be with my family and loved once again.
Thank you for all the support. It means the world to me and my loved ones
