Update 10/31/2025:
Jaykie had a preliminary hearing where she is being tried for resisting arrest. She has been released under parole and is awaiting trial. After reviewing the evidence and body camera footage, we redact the miscommunicated statement that she was asked for her work permit/ssn and forging, but everything else still stands. Apologies for any confusion as there was a language barrier between Jaykie and the officer and extremely limited communication between Jaykie and the family.

On October 27th, 2025, while taking her daughter to school, Jaykie Funez was wrongfully detained by 2 predatory HSI officers in Rockingham County, just north of Harrisonburg, Va. When asked for the reason of the stop, neither officers wanted to provide one. They then asked for her id, [work permit], and registration to which she obliged [and was immediately accused of forging ids and documents]. Then, using their intimidation, they had her step out the car to solo her out [and have her recite her social, one she just recently got and hadn’t memorized]. The officer then told her she was being arrested for an immigration warrant from 2003, and lunged at her for taking a step back out of instinctual feat. All while being on an active freeway (rt11). Trying to reach her daughter, Jaykie was then slammed to the ground by the agent and was taken to the local ICE facility then transferred to the county jail with both officers leaving her underage daughter stranded on the side of the highway alone and distressed.
Not only does Jaykie have the proper documents to be in the United States (permit/ssn) and is in the process of getting her pending residency approved, but she also is an extremely hard working, god fearing, law abiding woman with 0 criminal record that does anything to care of her two children.
We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to show support as we fight for her freedom.
