Why this petition matters

Started by ERIN CULPEPPER

It is my hope that you will sign this petition to free Elanna Wilkes, inmate number 19-181439, who is currently incarcerated at the Williamson County Jail in Georgetown, Texas.

While is jail Ms. Wilkes was prescribed medication for her severe depression and anxiety by the prison psychiatrist that also causes false positives for amphetamines/methampheamine. This caused the judge to revoke Ms. Wilkes's bond. The medications were Bupriprion, Quetiapine, and Metformin.

Ms. Wilkes was moved from a nurturing environment where she participated in beauty pageants, commercial and print modeling and was very active at her church. She had loving and nurturing family and extended family.

Her problems began when her mother accepted a new job out of state. She was often working extended hours and did not see how this environmental change was impacting her daughter. When the juvenile justice system became involved, Ms. Wilkes did not receive any treatment or counseling, just punishment.

During all of this Ms. Wilkes was raped and verbally/physically abused by a ex-boyfriend.

Despite these setbacks, while on bond, Ms. Wilkes was unable to  maintain gainful employment and FOUNDED HER OWN BUSINESS and was doing quite well.

Ms. Wilkes deserves a chance to pick up where she left off and rebuild her life and be a meaningful member of society as her only mistake was being with the wrong people as the wrong time. How many of can say, there but for the grace of God, this could have been me? She needs emotional therapy, not incarceration.

Please join me in supporting the release of Ms  Wilkes, she does not have to be another statistic!!

She is a young mother with her whole life ahead of her.
