Wir alle hatten gehofft, dass mit dem Waffenstillstand und der Freilassung von Geiseln und palästinensischen Gefangenen auch Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya und die anderen Gesundheitsmitarbeiter:innen unter den Freigelassenen sind.
Nach gegenwärtigem Stand ist er NICHT unter den Freigelassenen. Seit über 9 Monaten sitzt er bereits ohne Anklage in Administrativhaft.
Gleichzeitig wissen wir von dem Besuch der Physicians for human rights Israel (PHR-I) bei ihm, dass sein Gesundheitszustand bedrohlich ist. PHR-I berichtete:
"Während unseres heute erfolgreich durchgeführten Besuchs bei Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, dem Direktor des Kamal Adwan-Krankenhauses, der im Dezember 2024 verhaftet wurde und weiterhin in Israel inhaftiert ist, ergab sich ein ernstes und alarmierendes Bild. Seit seiner Verhaftung hat Dr. Abu Safiya rund 25 Kilogramm abgenommen. Er leidet an schwerer Krätze und Herzproblemen, erhält aber keine medizinische Behandlung. Während des Besuchs wurde deutlich, dass Dr. Abu Safiya seit März weder vor Gericht gestellt noch untersucht wurde und auch keine Informationen über den Grund seiner Verhaftung erhalten hat."

Der deutsche Außenminister hatte erklärt, dass Deutschland sich an dem Wiederaufbau des Gesundheitswesens beteiligen will. Dann dürfen Ärzt:innen und Gesundheitsmitarbeiter:innen nicht weiter in Haft sitzen! Sie werden gebraucht!

We had all hoped that with the ceasefire and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya and the other health workers would also be among those released.
As things stand, he is NOT among those released. He has been held in administrative detention without charge for over 9 months.
At the same time, we know from the visit by Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHR-I) that his health is in a critical condition. PHR-I reported:
"During our successful visit today to Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, who was arrested in December 2024 and remains imprisoned in Israel, a serious and alarming picture emerged. Since his arrest, Dr. Abu Safiya has lost around 25 kilograms. He suffers from severe scabies and heart problems, but is not receiving medical treatment. During the visit, it became clear that Dr. Abu Safiya has not been brought before a court or examined since March, nor has he received any information about the reason for his arrest."
THAT IS WHY WE CALL ON ALL PREVIOUS SIGNATORIES OF THE PETITION:
GET ACTIVE AGAIN SO THAT WE CAN REACH 10,000 SIGNATORIES!
THEN WE WILL ONCE AGAIN CONTACT THE ISRAELI EMBASSY AND THE GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTRY DIRECTLY WITH THE DEMAND FOR THE RELEASE OF DR. HUSSAM ABU SAFIYA AND THE OTHER HEALTHCARE WORKERS.
The German Foreign Minister has stated that Germany wants to participate in the reconstruction of the health care system. Then doctors and health care workers must not remain in detention! They are needed!
