(Letter dated 7/14/2019)

Supporters, love ones & friends,

It’s been a while since I posted an update.  Lately on my end it’s been real slow.  Obviously I’m still patiently waiting for a response from the courts which I feel pretty positive about.  I’ve read several comments each week by new supporters which I’m extremely grateful for.  The comments that typically stick out to me are along the lines of, “I followed his case from the start and I admit, I thought he was guilty.  The media didn’t present all this and basically made up their own script to the public.”  In my eyes as the wrongfully convicted, I see light when I read comments like that.

As Team Daniel grows around the world literally (other supporters from different states & different countries), you continue to spread awareness.  Not only about my case, but people are being made aware of multiple aspects of the judicial system (courts, corrupt DA’s/prosecution, media, bias/corrupt detectives, coaching of witnesses, manipulation of jurors etc.).

There has been a lot of movement on my case.  I admit at times it’s hard because of the factor of constantly waiting.  This brings up the “common questions” that I would like to answer.  I get asked, “How do you deal with prison knowing you’re innocent?”  At first, just like with anything new, it’s hard.  You have to adapt mentally and physically in extreme conditions.  I always use past experiences to help me face adverse situations.  I know the body is a creature of habit.  With that said, I keep my mind strong by constantly staying busy.  Something inside me just knows my day is coming.  I remember when all this started, I was with a special person at that time.  A lot of weight was crushing down on that person and the struggle was unreal.  I always would say, “Where is your faith?”  I believe particular moments in my life where I faced extreme adversity help me to this day.  All the answers to “why did this happen to me” are uncertain, but I do know I’ll never break.

Another update is Michelle Malkin’s “Daniel in the Den” has aired on Newsmax which reaches several millions across the world.  Thank you to Newsmax, Pat Campbell, Jason Flom, and everyone who is willing to speak out to the public about my case.  In today’s society, talking about my case is politically incorrect.  To articulate further, there are a lot of people who believe the judicial system is a perfect system.  So here I am wrongfully convicted but in their eyes I’m not innocent.  “The jury and court system got it right, justice was served…”

Several years ago there use to not be any television shows about post-conviction or wrongful convictions.  Slowly but surely it’s turning around.  Those who stand up for what they believe, those who believe in my innocence, those who are willing to go against the majority, those who don’t rush to judgement but dissect cases and then build your opinion, I thank all of you.

Lastly, I want to emphasize one of my biggest points for appeal.  That is ineffective counsel.  My lawyer did not object or say anything to Prosecutor Gayland Gieger’s corrupt/manipulative closing statements about which for a fact jurors stated on video/record, the reason we convicted Daniel Holtzclaw was the DNA.  In addition, money was invested into a DNA expert who wasn’t even put on the stand nor was he qualified for that position (he specialized in animal DNA).  Being a defendant and fighting for your life, I just like the majority of the public was clueless about touch DNA or DNA in general.  I relied on my lawyers for help.  My lawyers didn’t even argue that there was male DNA on my pants.  They didn’t notice or discuss the tampering with evidence shown on the [interrogation] video of Detective Gregory putting his bare hand in the bag where I placed my pants.  I wasn’t even advised that [the State’s forensic expert] Elaine Taylor was related to lead detective Gregory until months after the trial.

Literally depositions were held with an accuser stating nothing happened.  It’s on record but yet here I am still waiting.  We have a higher ranking [Oklahoma City Police Department] officer stating, we didn’t show anyone else lineups because we were afraid they wouldn’t pick Holtzclaw.  Complete bias, tunnel vision, corruption to the fullest!

Incompetent detectives, secret hearings to literally hinder the blow of what is really going on.  I wasn’t even advised of the hearings, nor was I in the courtroom when they happened.  To find out it was about the DNA and Taylor.  It was said that even if the defendant (myself) was there it wouldn’t have changed anything.  So in our perfect judicial system, it is completely biased and one sided.  You’re telling me that I couldn’t have been there to object or place my statements on record.  I can’t make this stuff up.  I challenge anyone who does not believe me, please research the case, look at the facts!  Again, I can’t make any of this up.

In closing, thank you everyone for the constant support.  Keep the word going and never give up.  I promise I won’t!  Thank you.
