FREE COMMUNITY TUTORING FOR ALL

FREE COMMUNITY TUTORING FOR ALL
The Issue
A social media debate highlights concerns over privileged individuals occupying spots in state universities, which some argue should prioritize the underprivileged. Despite the 1987 Philippine Constitution guaranteeing access to quality education, significant disparities exist. While 49% of the richest attend higher education, only 17% of the poorest have the same opportunity. The education system also faces a severe learning crisis, with poor outcomes in reading, math, and science. Reforms like the K to 12 Program have not resolved these issues.
To tackle this, a free community tutoring program aims to provide basic education to marginalized groups, such as street dwellers and foster care individuals. The program will focus on literacy, elementary, and junior high subjects, with trained volunteers and teachers ensuring quality and accessibility.
