We have worked hard to get to this point and we want to thank you for following her case for so long. We wouldn't be here without you. We fought to pass the Oklahoma Survivors Act in 2024, which overcame a governor veto, and we are now seeing the first hearings for retroactive relief roll out. April was the first to apply for resentencing once the bill took effect, but was not the first to get a hearing or be released. We hope this is the finish line for April, but we know the fight is not over!
If you plan to attend April's OSA hearing, there are some things you should know: the court room it is scheduled in now is smaller, so seating is very limited. Plan for the hearing to last all day, over the course of all three days, with a lunch break (so plan for lunch). We recommend parking on the south side of the court house, directly across the street, which is $15 an hour for all-day parking. You will not be able to talk to April or bring signs into the court room. You will be asked to turn off your cellphones and devices while court is in session.
