Sheriff Chuck Jenkins is unfit to serve the people of Frederick. We demand his resignation as well the defunding of his racist 287(g) program. He has condoned and/or is actively participating in spreading fascist agendas in Frederick County, MD, for many years.

He has publicly stated, on video, that he believes the election of Joe Biden was "stolen," making him yet another mouthpiece for the lies that culminated in the attack on the Capitol. His slavish devotion to Trump puts him at odds not just with decency, but with reality. His statements and politics reveal a man who encouraged and spread the hateful rhetoric that led to the Frederick County Conservatives Club busing many of their members to the attempted fascist coup on Jan 6. This coup was supported by openly fascist organizations, white nationalist hate groups, and criminal militia groups, such as the Three Percenters, Oathkeepers, and the Proud Boys.

In a speech to the Frederick County Conservatives Club, he said he would not enforce Covid mask restrictions and believed that the pandemic that has killed 375,000 of his fellow citizens, including 209 Frederick County residents, might be a fraud. Such willful disregard for reality and for the lives of the citizenry is unacceptable.

He is a home wrecker that has separated many immigrants families using the 287g program, which allows Frederick Deputies to detain people based on their suspected immigration status on the behalf of ICE with little training and no regard for civil liberties. According to the Frederick County 2012 Annual Report, 88 percent of detainers issued by ICE were for misdemeanors, many of which were traffic violations. The majority of the over 1,400 people detained for ICE and processed for deportation in Frederick were for non-violent offenses, destroying families and wrecking communities. Now it’s time for him to take responsibility and we need to hold him accountable for his repeated false propaganda about a stolen election. He needs to go. We demand his resignation.
