Today 6/24/24 Nam Nguyen has come forward and has sincerely publicly apologized to all victims allowing them to start healing and have closure. He has also returned funds back to the tournament sponsor in full. His sincere apology has allowed those that were affected by his actions to move forward. Although the youtube videos and petition will never come down (as previously warned and promised), we (tournament staff, players, and I) all believe Nam Nguyen has learned a valuable life lesson and that he will be a new man. We appreciate his courage to come forward and to face everyone in a live video meeting and we wish him the best as he and all of us turns the page to a new chapter in all of our lives.
Here is a recording of the apology meeting: https://youtu.be/JBOLDx5L6ug
Mario Alvarez also paid back the tournament sponsor in full. However Mario's "apology letter" is NOT ACCEPTED. Not only does he continue to blame others and refuse to admit that he committed fraud, his entire "apology" letter was designed simply to tug at the heartstrings of those that are not his victims. He uses this opportunity to continually to stab his victims even before they can began healing. It's an insult to their intellect.
Click here for Mario's "apology" letter and surveyed answer of what the players from U1500 and U1800 thought of it + witnesses testifying about their past experiences of Mario. Also see proof that Mario colluded with Nam on defrauding the tournament confirming the fraud was premeditated.
This is more than just the $2,500 stolen from the tournament. The time and effort spent by the victims, tournament team, myself, and numerous volunteers in chasing down these fraudsters and compiling all the information together has well exceeded $20,000.
This petition's purpose was to spread awareness of Mario and Nam's actions during the tournament and how they continued to lie and deny even after being called out. It is meant to provide closure to their victims. 2.5 weeks since tournament, Nam has come forward sincerely, and 3 weeks since the tournament, Mario continues to try to manipulate the narrative.
Since posting on youtube.com and change.org, so far 63 unique individuals have come forward telling me about how Mario has scammed them in the past or their own past experiences of him. These testimonies go as far back as back when Mario was in Nicarauga. Unfortunately, many do request not to be published as it's understandable, but several folks have allowed their testimonies to be published.
This petition of social awareness is now set as beacon of hope for all of Mario C Alvarez Sanchez's victims. Past, present, and future.
Mario can continue to spin his lies, but as already mentioned. We've already filed or initiated conversations with the following agencies. FBI, State Attorney General of Utah, Lehi Police, and USATT.
It will just be a matter of time before justice is served.
